Method of Data Retrieval
SocialDog automatically collects data from each social media platform. As a result, the information displayed on the “Dashboard,” “Analytics,” “Followers,” and “Inbox” screens is not shown in real time.
Timing of Data Retrieval
The timing of data collection varies by user and cannot be specified. It may occur early in the morning or late at night.
For “Post metrics” and “Follower lists” on X (Twitter), you can manually update the data at any time. For details, please refer to the section on data retrieval timing for X (Twitter).
Display of Data Immediately After Registering with SocialDog
Immediately after registering for SocialDog, no information will be shown on the dashboard and other pages until the initial data collection is complete.
Retrieving past data can take up to one day. New data after registration will be reflected on the next data retrieval timing.
For more details, please see Can I retrieve data from before registering with SocialDog?
Differences Between SocialDog and Social Media Platform Data Display
SocialDog retrieves data using official APIs from each social media platform (such as the X (Twitter) API and Instagram Graph API). For the following reasons, the data displayed in SocialDog may differ from what is shown by the platforms themselves (such as X Analytics, Meta Business Suite, etc.):
- Retrieval timing: Due to the frequency of data collection, the figures displayed on SocialDog may not always be the latest.
- Number of posts retrieved: There is a limit to the number of posts SocialDog can collect.
- Updates to data on already retrieved posts: The scope of updates may be limited depending on the number of recent posts or the time since posting.
- Platform-related issues: The data provided via each platform’s API may differ from the data shown directly on the platform.
When SocialDog's Data Differs from Social Media Platform Display
SocialDog retrieves data through official APIs (X (Twitter) API, Instagram Graph API, etc.). However, the data displayed in SocialDog may differ from what's shown on the social media platforms (X Analytics, Meta Business Suite, etc.) for the following reasons:
- Data Retrieval Timing: Since metrics for each post are collected only once per day at minimum, the values shown in SocialDog may not be the most current.
- Post Retrieval Limits: SocialDog has limits on the number of posts it can retrieve. Posts beyond these limits will no longer receive data updates.
- Social Media Platform Issues: There may be differences in the data provided to SocialDog through APIs by each social media platform.
Data Handling from Social Media Platforms
SocialDog adheres to the developer guidelines set forth by each social media platform. As a result, any information that is accessible only to specific users on these platforms—such as personal analytics metrics—is kept private and is not shared with other users.
X (Twitter)Timing of data retrieval

In addition to the automatic daily update, the following items can be updated manually at your preferred timing.- The "Post details" page, accessible from "Post performance"
- If you set the analysis period to a timeframe beyond two weeks from the post date, you can retrieve any missing data for that period.
- X (Twitter) account post history (Business and Enterprise plans only)
- For X (Twitter) accounts, you can manually update data by clicking the "Retrieve posts from X (Twitter)" button at the bottom of the Post history screen.
- Follow and follower lists
- In the "Followers" feature, you can manually update data by clicking the update time display in the upper right corner of the screen (shown as a button like "15 minutes ago"), then clicking the "Update now" button.
Are follows conducted outside SocialDog recorded?
Follows made outside of SocialDog are recorded.
If a follow and unfollow occur between data retrievals, such as when you unfollow immediately after following, it will not be recorded in the follow history. By regularly performing manual updates of the follow and follower lists, accurate information is more likely to be recorded in SocialDog's follow history.
