Social media data and retrieval timing

This document explains the data SocialDog acquires from each SNS and the acquisition timings.

Common to All SNS​

Data Acquisition Method​

SocialDog acquires data from the official APIs of each SNS (e.g., X (Twitter) API, Instagram Graph API). It does not use methods prohibited by the terms of service of each SNS, such as scraping.

Data Acquisition Timing​

SocialDog's server acquires data from SNS at one or more of the following timings. The timing varies depending on the feature, data, and type of SNS.

  • Regular acquisition
    • Only if you are logged in within 14 days with a paid Plan or Free Plan
    • Timing varies by user and day, and cannot be specified.
  • When you open the SocialDog screen
  • When you click the [Refresh] button on the SocialDog screen
  • Immediately after new registration for SocialDog
  • Immediately after changing to a paid Plan for SocialDog

If daily regular acquisition stops for the Free Plan​

Data acquisition will resume when you log in again, but data from the period when it was stopped will not be acquired. We recommend logging in to SocialDog regularly.

Data Display Immediately After SocialDog Registration​

Immediately after registering for SocialDog, information will not be displayed on the Dashboard or elsewhere until data acquisition is complete.

Acquiring past data can take up to 1 day. New data after registration will be reflected at the next data acquisition timing.

Handling of Data Acquired from SNS​

SocialDog complies with the developer rules set by each SNS. Therefore, information that can only be viewed by specific users on SNS (e.g., Analytics metrics that only you can see) is made accessible only to that user and is not disclosed to other users.

There may be discrepancies between the numbers displayed on SocialDog and on SNS Analytics screens (e.g., X Analytics, Meta Business Suite). For details, please see Discrepancies between SocialDog and SNS numbers.

X (Twitter)​

Users​

Target Data​

  • User information (Followers count, Following count, profile text, etc.)
  • Daily history of user information

Acquisition Timing​

  • Daily regular acquisition (once every 24 hours starting from 9:00 AM JST)
  • Immediately after registration for SocialDog
    • If SocialDog holds data from before registration, it will be acquired.
      • In the case of users who had a Follow relationship with SocialDog users, SocialDog may hold data from before registration.

Posts​

Target Data​

  • Post data
    • Post content, latest values of metrics for each Post (impressions, Likes, etc.)
  • Time-series data of Post metrics
tip

SocialDog cannot acquire any data regarding X ad Posts (promoted Posts).

For Posts used as ad creatives, "organic posts" (promoted Posts = Posts not delivered to Followers) can be acquired. Metrics like Likes are acquired as a combined value of ads and organic, and a breakdown cannot be confirmed. Impressions show only the organic value.

Acquisition Timing​

  • Immediately after registration for SocialDog
    • Acquires the latest 3,200 Posts and metrics.
  • Immediately after changing to a paid Plan
    • Acquires the latest 3,200 Posts and metrics (lifetime values).
    • Acquires hourly metric trends for the latest 100 Posts from the past 4 weeks (Business・Enterprise only).
  • Daily regular acquisition (once every 24 hours starting from 9:00 AM JST)
  • When SocialDog is opened
    • When opened more than 3 hours after the previous data acquisition
      • Automatic acquisition of Posts created since the previous data acquisition (including Posts created without using SocialDog).
      • Refresh of Analytics data for Posts created within the past 10 days (Personal・Professional) or past 30 days (Business・Enterprise).
    • If a period exceeding 2 weeks is specified on the Post performance screen
      • Additional data for that period will be acquired.
  • When you click the [Refresh] button on the SocialDog screen

Maximum Number of Posts that can be acquired​

  • When the number of acquired Posts for the current month reaches the Plan-specific limit, automatic acquisition of Posts created without SocialDog will be suspended until the next month (Posts during the suspension period will not be acquired in subsequent months).
    • Plan-specific limits
      • Free・Personal・Professional: 3,000
      • Business・Enterprise: 12,500
    • Posts made via SocialDog will continue to be automatically acquired, regardless of the number of acquired Posts.
  • If the number of newly created Posts since the previous acquisition exceeds 3,200, some may not be acquired (Business・Enterprise only).

Following・Followers​

Target Data​

  • List of Following・Followers, and profile information for each user
    • Includes Follows performed outside of SocialDog.
  • History data of Following・Followers
    • Includes Follows performed outside of SocialDog.
    • If a Follow and unfollow occur between data acquisitions (e.g., if someone unfollows immediately after following), it will not be recorded in the Follow history.
      • Performing a "manual Refresh of Following・Followers list" before and after a Follow operation makes it easier for accurate information to be recorded in SocialDog's Follow history.

Acquisition Timing​

  • Daily regular acquisition (once every 24 hours starting from 9:00 AM JST)
  • When SocialDog is opened
    • If more than 1 hour has passed since the previous data acquisition when the "Followers" screen is displayed
  • When you click the [Refresh] button on the SocialDog screen
    • On the "Followers" screen, you can manually Refresh data by clicking the refresh time display in the upper right (the button showing "15 minutes ago") and then clicking the [Refresh Now] button.

Competitor Accounts Posts​

Target Data​

  • Posts of Competitor accounts
    • Up to 1,000 Posts for the current month will be acquired. If the number of acquisitions per month reaches 1,000, the acquisition of new Posts for that month will stop there. Post acquisition will resume from the 1st of the next month, but Posts not acquired in the previous month will not be acquired retroactively.

  • When Added as a Competitor account
    • Acquires up to 1,000 past Posts
  • Daily regular acquisition (once every 24 hours starting from 9:00 AM JST)

Instagram​

Users​

Target Data​

  • Daily Followers count, Following count, impressions, Likes, profile views, etc.

Acquisition Timing​

  • Daily regular acquisition (once every 24 hours starting from 5:00 PM JST)
    • Due to Instagram's specifications, data for "New followers count" and "unfollows count" can only be acquired up to 3-4 days prior.

Posts​

Target Data​

  • Individual Post impressions, Likes, etc. (Engagements)

Acquisition Timing​

  • Immediately after registration for SocialDog
    • Acquires the latest 1,000 Posts from the past 2 years (730 days).
  • Daily regular acquisition (once every 24 hours starting from 5:00 PM JST)
    • Acquires the latest 1,000 Posts.
  • Regular acquisition every 15 minutes
    • For Business Plan or higher, acquires data for the latest 100 Posts within the past 1 month.

Online Followers Metrics​

Target Data​

  • Average online Followers by Time of day, etc.

Acquisition Timing​

  • Acquired once daily, considering the period from 5:00 PM JST to 4:59 PM JST the following day as one day.
    • Due to Instagram's specifications, data that can be acquired is only up to 2-3 days prior.

Impact of Daylight Saving Time in Pacific Time (PT)​

Due to Instagram's specifications, during Daylight Saving Time in Pacific Time (PT) (approximately March to November), data acquisition timing will be 1 hour earlier than usual.

Additionally, when Daylight Saving Time changes, the displayed number of online Followers may appear extremely low.

  • Daily regular acquisition (once every 24 hours starting from 5:00 PM JST)
    • Due to Threads' specifications, historical data for Followers count cannot be acquired.

Posts​

  • Post data
    • Post content, latest values of metrics for each Post (views, Likes, Replies, Reposts, quotes, etc.)

Acquisition Timing​

  • Daily regular acquisition (once every 24 hours starting from 5:00 PM JST)
    Acquires the latest 1,000 Posts.
  • Regular acquisition every 15 minutes
    For Business Plan or higher, acquires data for the latest 100 Posts within the past 1 month.

TikTok​

Users​

Target Data​

  • User information
    • Daily Following count, Followers count

Acquisition Timing​

  • Daily regular acquisition (once every 24 hours starting from 9:00 AM JST)
    • Due to TikTok's specifications, historical data for Following count and Followers count cannot be acquired.

Posts​

Target Data​

  • Post data
    • Post content, latest values of metrics for each Post

Acquisition Timing​

  • Daily regular acquisition (once every 24 hours starting from 9:00 AM JST)
    • Acquires the latest 1,000 Posts.
  • Regular acquisition every 15 minutes
    • For Business Plan or higher, acquires data for the latest 100 Posts within the past 1 month.
  • Due to TikTok's specifications, it may take 2-3 days for the latest values to be reflected in the metrics for each Post.
