This article describes the procedure for connecting your Instagram account to SocialDog.

Two Methods to Connect Your Instagram Account

There are two methods for connecting your Instagram account. "Log in with Instagram" is simpler and recommended.

• Log in with Instagram (Recommended)
• Log in with Facebook

Differences Between the Two Methods

Connecting Your Instagram Account

1. Click the icon in the lower-left corner → SNS Accounts.
2. Click [Add SNS Account].
3. The screen for selecting the SNS account to add will appear. Click [Instagram Account].
4. On the screen to select the connection method, choose [Log in with Instagram] or [Log in with Facebook].
5. If prompted to switch to a Professional Account after logging in, follow the on-screen instructions to switch to a Professional Account (Business Account).
6. Log in to Instagram.
   1. You can log in with your Instagram password or your Facebook account.

Preparation for "Log in with Facebook"

This section describes the necessary steps before connecting your Instagram account via "Log in with Facebook". This procedure is not required if you connect your Instagram account using the "Log in with Instagram" method.

Prerequisites for "Log in with Facebook"

To connect your Instagram account using "Log in with Facebook", you must meet all the following conditions:

• You have a Facebook account
  • If you do not have a Facebook account, you can create one on the official Facebook website.
• You have a Facebook Page that is published
  • Even if you do not connect your Facebook Page to SocialDog, a Facebook Page is required to connect an Instagram account using "Log in with Facebook".
  • If you do not have a Facebook Page, you can create one on the official Facebook website.
• Your Instagram account is a Professional Account (Business Account)
  • "Creator Accounts" are not supported.
• Your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page
  • One Instagram account can be linked to one Facebook Page.
    • You cannot link to a Facebook Page that is already linked to an Instagram account.
• You have Facebook Page permissions
  • Required permissions
    • For Classic Pages
      • "Admin" or "Editor"
    • For New Pages Experience
      • One of the following:
        • Full control access to Facebook
        • Partial control access to Facebook
  • For more details on Facebook Page permissions, please refer to the official Facebook Help Center.

How to Switch Your Instagram Account to a Professional Account and Link It to a Facebook Page

This section describes the method for users with the "New Pages Experience" on Facebook. The steps may differ for "Classic Pages".

For Mobile App

You can use the Instagram app to simultaneously switch to a Business Account and link to a Facebook Page.

1. Open the Instagram app on your smartphone. Also, log in to the Instagram account you wish to connect to SocialDog.
2. Open the "Profile" tab (the tab displaying your user icon or profile picture) at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap "More" (the three-line icon) at the top of the screen.
4. Click "Account type and tools" within the "Professional dashboard" section.
   • If "Account type and tools" is not displayed, please refer to "If "Account type and tools" is not displayed" below.
5. Tap "Switch to Professional Account".
6. A description of Professional Accounts will be displayed. Tap "Next" until the "Select a category that best describes you" screen appears.
7. On the "Select a category that best describes you" screen, select the appropriate category for your Instagram account and tap "Next".
8. The "Are you a Creator?" screen will appear. Select "Business" and tap "Next".
9. The "Review your contact info" screen will appear. Review and modify the displayed information, then tap "Next" or "Don't use contact info".
10. The "Share login using Accounts Center" screen will appear. Tap "Next".
11. Follow the on-screen instructions to log in with your Facebook account and "Add account".
    *The screen displayed may vary depending on your situation, for example, if you have already enabled connected experiences to log in to your Instagram account with your Facebook account.
12. Tapping "Next" will display the "Link Facebook Page" screen. Select the Facebook Page you wish to link with your Instagram account and tap "Next".
    *If you do not have a Facebook Page, you can create one on this screen.
13. Once the "Set Up Your Professional Account" screen is displayed, this process is complete. Tap "Close" (the X icon) at the top of the screen.

If "Account type and tools" is not displayed

• If "Business tools and controls" is displayed in the "Professional dashboard" section:
  • Your Instagram account is already a Business Account. Please check "Verify if your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page".
• If "Creator tools and controls" is displayed in the "Professional dashboard" section:
  • Your Instagram account is a Creator Account. Since SocialDog does not support Creator Accounts, you need to switch to a Business Account. Tap "Creator tools and controls" > "Switch account type", then tap "Switch to Business Account". Please check "Verify if your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page".

For Desktop Browser

This section describes the method for users with the "New Pages Experience" on Facebook. The steps may differ for "Classic Pages".

Step 1: Switch Your Instagram Account to a Business Account

1. Open the official Instagram website and log in with your Instagram account.
2. Click "More" (the three-line icon), then click "Settings" in the displayed menu.
3. Click "Switch to Professional Account".
4. The "Choose the account type that's right for you" screen will appear. Select "Business" and click "Next".
   Note: SocialDog does not support Creator Accounts.
5. A description of Business Accounts will be displayed. Click "Next".
6. The "Select a category" screen will appear. Select the appropriate category for your Instagram account and click "Done".
7. The "Review contact info" screen will appear. Review and modify the displayed information, then click "Save" or "Don't use contact info".
8. The "Your Instagram Business Account is ready" screen will appear. Click "Done".

Step 2: Link Your Instagram Account and Facebook Page

1. Open the official Facebook website and log in with the Facebook account that manages the Facebook Page you want to link with your Instagram account.
2. Click "Pages" in the left-hand menu. If "Pages" is not displayed, click "See more" to reveal it.
3. A list of the Facebook Pages you manage will be displayed. If you do not have a Facebook Page, please create one on this screen first.
4. From the list of Facebook Pages, locate the Facebook Page you wish to link with your Instagram account. Click the "..." icon displayed on this Facebook Page, then click "Switch".
   
5. The Facebook Page will be displayed. Click "Settings" in the left-hand menu.
6. The "Settings" screen will appear. Click "Linked Accounts" in the left-hand menu.
7. The "Linked Accounts" screen will appear. Click "Instagram" in the left-hand menu.
8. Click "Connect account".
9. A description screen about linking will be displayed. Click "Connect".
10. The "Select Instagram messages settings" screen will appear. Optionally change the settings, then click "Confirm".
11. The Instagram login screen will appear. Log in with the Instagram account you intend to connect to SocialDog.
12. Once the "Instagram linked" screen is displayed, this process is complete.

Verify if your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page

You can verify if your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page using the following method:

1. Open the Instagram app on your smartphone and log in to the Instagram account you wish to connect.
2. Open the "Profile" tab (the tab displaying your user icon or profile picture) at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap "Edit Profile".
4. Tap "Page" within the "Public business information" section.
5. If a Facebook Page is already linked, its information will be displayed. If a Facebook Page is not linked, you can link one.

The Instagram Account/Facebook Page You Want to Add Does Not Appear in SocialDog

If the Instagram account or Facebook Page you wish to add does not appear on the "Select Instagram account to add" or "Select Facebook Page to add" screen when attempting to add it to SocialDog, please check the following:

• If logging in with Facebook:
  • Have you met the prerequisites for logging in with Facebook?
  • Is business integration enabled? Follow the steps below to check your Facebook settings:
    1. Open Facebook's "Business Integrations" settings.
       • This is a Facebook settings screen, not an Instagram one.
    2. Click "View and edit" in the row for "SocialDog".
    3. On the screen that appears, turn on all toggle switches.
       • If a list of Instagram accounts and Facebook Pages is displayed for each toggle switch, ensure that all Instagram accounts and Facebook Pages you want to manage with SocialDog are checked.
    4. Click "Save".
    5. Please try adding the SNS account in SocialDog again.
