This article explains the steps to link your Instagram Account to SocialDog.

Two Ways to Link Your Instagram Account

There are two ways to link your Instagram Account. "Log in with Instagram" is easy and recommended.

• Log in with Instagram (Recommended)
• Log in with Facebook

Link your Instagram Account

1. Click the icon in the lower left corner → [Social profile].
2. Click [Add Social profile].
3. The screen for selecting a social media Account to Add will appear. Click [Instagram Account].
4. On the screen to select a linking method, choose [Log in with Instagram] or [Log in with Facebook].
5. If prompted to switch to a professional Account after logging in, follow the on-screen instructions to change to a professional Account (business Account).
6. Log in to Instagram.
   1. You can log in with your Instagram Password or Facebook Account.

Preparation for 'Log in with Facebook'

This section describes the operations required before linking your Instagram Account using 'Log in with Facebook'. This step is not necessary if you are linking your Instagram Account using the 'Log in with Instagram' method.

Requirements for 'Log in with Facebook'

To link your Instagram Account using 'Log in with Facebook', you must meet All the following conditions:

• You have a Facebook Account
  • If you don't have a Facebook Account, you can create one on the Facebook official website.
• You have a Facebook Page and it is published
  • Even if you don't link your Facebook Page to SocialDog, a Facebook Page is required to link your Instagram Account using 'Log in with Facebook'.
  • If you don't have a Facebook Page, you can create one on the Facebook official website.
• Your Instagram Account is a professional Account (business Account)
  • Creator Accounts are not supported.
• Your Instagram Account is linked to a Facebook Page
  • You can link one Instagram Account to one Facebook Page.
    • You cannot link to a Facebook Page that is already linked to an Instagram Account.
• You have permissions for the Facebook Page
  • Required permissions
    • For Classic Pages
      • 'Admin' or 'Editor'
    • For new design Pages
      • One of the following:
        • Full control access to Facebook
        • Partial control access to Facebook
  • For more details on Facebook Page permissions, please refer to the Facebook official Help.

How to Change Instagram Accounts to Professional Accounts and Link them to Facebook Pages

This section explains the method for those with 'new design' Facebook Pages. The steps may differ for 'Classic Pages'.

For smartphone app

You can simultaneously switch to a business Account and link to a Facebook Page using the Instagram app.

1. Open the Instagram app on your smartphone. Also, log in to the Instagram Account you want to link to SocialDog.
2. Open the 'Profile' tab (the tab displaying your user icon or profile picture) at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap 'More' (the three-line icon) at the top of the screen.
4. Click 'Account Type and Tools' within the 'Professional Dashboard' section.
   • If 'Account Type and Tools' is not displayed, please check 'If 'Account Type and Tools' is not displayed' at the bottom.
5. Tap 'Switch to professional Account'.
6. A description of professional Accounts will appear. Tap 'Next' until the 'Select a category that best describes you' screen appears.
7. When the 'Select a category that best describes you' screen appears, select the appropriate category for your Instagram Account and tap 'Next'.
8. The 'Are you a Creator?' screen will appear. Select 'Business' and tap 'Next'.
9. The 'Review your contact info' screen will appear. Review and Change the displayed information, then tap 'Next' or 'Don't use my contact info'.
10. The 'Share login using Account Center' screen will appear. Tap 'Next'.
11. Follow the on-screen instructions to log in with your Facebook Account and 'Add Account'.
    • The screen displayed may vary depending on the situation, such as if you have already enabled the setting to log in to your Instagram Account with your Facebook Account (Connected Experiences).
12. Tapping 'Next' will display the 'Link Facebook Page' screen. Select the Facebook Page you wish to link with your Instagram Account and tap 'Next'.
    • If you do not have a Facebook Page, you can create one on this screen.
13. Once the 'Set up professional Account' screen appears, this task is complete. Tap 'Close' (the X icon) at the top of the screen.

If 'Account Type and Tools' is not displayed

• If 'Business tools and controls' is displayed in the 'Professional Dashboard' section:
  • Your Instagram Account is already a business Account. Please check 'Verify if your Instagram Account is linked to a Facebook Page'.
• If 'Creator tools and controls' is displayed in the 'Professional Dashboard' section:
  • Your Instagram Account is a creator Account. Since SocialDog does not support creator Accounts, you need to switch to a business Account. Tap 'Creator tools and controls' > 'Switch Account type', then tap 'Switch to Business Account'. Please check 'Verify if your Instagram Account is linked to a Facebook Page'.

For desktop browser

This section explains the method for those with 'new design' Facebook Pages. The steps may differ for 'Classic Pages'.

Step 1: Switch your Instagram Account to a business Account

1. Open the Instagram official website and log in with your Instagram Account.
2. Click 'More' (the three-line icon) and then click 'Settings' in the displayed menu.
3. Click 'Switch to professional Account'.
4. The 'Choose the Account type that best suits you' screen will appear. Select 'Business' and click 'Next'.
   * SocialDog does not support creator Accounts.
5. A description of business Accounts will appear. Click 'Next'.
6. The 'Select a category' screen will appear. Select the appropriate category for your Instagram Account and click 'Done'.
7. The 'Review contact info' screen will appear. Review and Change the displayed information, then click 'Save' or 'Don't use contact info'.
8. The 'Your Instagram business Account is ready' screen will appear. Click 'Done'.

Step 2: Link your Instagram Account and Facebook Page

1. Open the Facebook official website and log in with the Facebook Account that manages the Facebook Page you want to link with your Instagram Account.
2. Click 'Pages' in the menu on the left side of the screen. If 'Pages' is not displayed, click 'See more' to reveal it.
3. A list of Facebook Pages you manage will be displayed. If you do not have a Facebook Page, please create one on this screen first.
4. From the list of Facebook Pages, find the Facebook Page you want to link with your Instagram Account. Click the '...' icon displayed on this Facebook Page, then click 'Switch'.
   
5. The Facebook Page will be displayed. Click 'Settings' in the menu on the left side of the screen.
6. The 'Settings' screen will appear. Click 'Linked Accounts' in the menu on the left side of the screen.
7. The 'Linked Accounts' screen will appear. Click 'Instagram' in the menu on the left side of the screen.
8. Click 'Link Account'.
9. A description screen about linking will appear. Click 'Link'.
10. The 'Select Instagram messaging settings' screen will appear. Optionally Change the settings and click 'Done'.
11. The Instagram login screen will appear. Log in with the Instagram Account you plan to link to SocialDog.
12. Once the 'Instagram Linked' screen appears, this task is complete.

Verify if your Instagram Account is linked to a Facebook Page

You can verify if your Instagram Account is linked to a Facebook Page using the following method:

1. Open the Instagram app on your smartphone and log in to the Instagram Account you wish to link.
2. Open the 'Profile' tab (the tab displaying your user icon or profile picture) at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap 'Edit Profile'.
4. Tap 'Page' within the 'Public Business Information' section.
5. If a Facebook Page is already linked, its information will be displayed. If no Facebook Page is linked, you can link one.

The Instagram Account / Facebook Page you want to Add does not appear in SocialDog

If the Instagram Account or Facebook Page you wish to Add does not appear on the 'Select Instagram Accounts to Add' or 'Select Facebook Pages to Add' screen when attempting to Add them to SocialDog, please check the following:

• For 'Log in with Facebook' method
  • Are the requirements for 'Log in with Facebook' met?
  • Is Business Integrations On? Follow the steps below to check your Facebook settings.
    1. Open Facebook's 'Business integrations' settings.
       • This is a Facebook settings screen, not Instagram's.
    2. Click 'View and Edit' in the row for 'SocialDog'.
    3. On the screen that appears, turn All the toggle switches On.
       • If a list of Instagram Accounts and Facebook Pages is displayed for each toggle switch, check All the Instagram Accounts and Facebook Pages you want to manage with SocialDog.
    4. Click 'Save'.
    5. Please try to Add the Social profile in SocialDog again.
