The figures displayed on SocialDog's Analytics screen may not always match those on each social media's Analytics screen (e.g., X Analytics, Meta Business Suite) or other tools. This section explains the main reasons for these discrepancies and how to check them.

Main Reasons for Discrepancies

Different Aggregation Targets

Different Target Posts and Engagements for Aggregation

The scope of posts and engagements targeted for aggregation when a period is specified varies by screen.

  • Target Posts: "All Posts" or "Posts Published Within the Period"
  • Target Engagements: "Engagements Occurring Within the Period" or "All Engagements Earned by Posts"

For example, if the period is set to "May", the aggregation targets are as follows:

ScreenTarget PostsTarget Engagements
SocialDog: Top graph on the Post performance screenPosts published in MayEngagements occurring in May
SocialDog: Bottom table on the Post performance screen and other screensPosts published in MayAll Engagements
X Analytics: Overview screenAll PostsEngagements occurring in May
X Analytics: Content screenPosts published in MayAll Engagements

Figures earned in May by posts published before April are included in X Analytics' overview screen but not in the top graph of SocialDog's Post performance screen.

tip

For details on the Post performance graph and post list display, please see Analyze Posts (Post performance).

Excluded Posts/Data

  • Posts that cannot be retrieved due to social media specifications are not included in SocialDog's Analytics.
  • Data from before linking your Social profile or during the free Plan usage period may not be retrievable.
  • There is a limit to the number of posts that can be retrieved per Plan, and posts created after reaching this limit will not be retrieved.
tip

For data from before linking your Social profile to SocialDog, please see Retrieve Data from Before Linking a Social Profile.

Differences in Inclusion of Ad Post Metrics

For X (Twitter), SocialDog cannot retrieve data for ad posts.

  • Impressions: Only organic figures are displayed.
  • Metrics such as Likes: A combined value of ads and organic is displayed, and the breakdown cannot be viewed.

If the social media's Analytics screen displays figures including ads, they will be higher than SocialDog's figures.

Different Metric Calculation Methods

Different Aggregation Base Dates

There are two types of aggregation base dates: "the date a Post was made" and "the date an Engagement occurred on a Post".

For example, SocialDog's Post performance graph aggregates data based on the date impressions and Engagements were acquired. The social media's Analytics screen may aggregate data based on the Post date.

  • Example: If a Post made on July 1 had a Reply on July 2
    • SocialDog's Post performance: Aggregated as a Reply on July 2
    • Social media's Analytics screen: Aggregated as a Reply on July 1
tip

For aggregation methods per screen, please see Analysis Data Definitions.

Different Metric Definitions

  • Even for metrics with the same name, the displayed figures will differ if the elements included in the aggregation are different.
  • Even within the same Analytics tool, metric definitions may vary depending on the screen.
tip

For differences per X metric, please see Main Differences Between X Analytics and SocialDog.

Different Time zones

  • If SocialDog and the social media have different base Time zones, the aggregation range will shift even if the same period is specified.
  • Especially for daily data, discrepancies arise due to differences in date delimiters.
tip

For how to set the Time zone, please refer to Change Time zone | Manage Team settings.

Different Data Refresh Timing

  • SocialDog retrieves data from social media at timings such as once-daily scheduled acquisitions. Therefore, recent data may appear lower than the figures on the social media side.
  • There are limits to the range in which retrieved data can be updated, depending on the number of days since the Post. If figures change after they are no longer eligible for update (e.g., unliking), those changes will not be reflected in SocialDog.
  • If figures are later corrected on the social media side due to spam detection or other reasons, they may no longer match SocialDog's figures.
tip

For data retrieved from each social media and retrieval timing, please see Data Retrieved from Social Media and Retrieval Timing.

Points to Consider When Comparing Figures

When comparing figures, please align and confirm the following points:

  1. Specify the same period and the same Time zone.
  2. Check the same aggregation target (whether it's the entire Account or Posts within the period).
  3. Check if advertising figures are included.
  4. Compare over a period up to a few days ago, as recent data may still be pending reflection.
tip

SocialDog can be used to compare and manage trends of multiple Social profiles using the same criteria.

tip

If data is not displayed, please see Data Not Displayed.
